As Mamdani commits to expanding child care, parents say it’s making their plans to have a second child or return to the workforce more realistic.

Lawmakers are haggling over when ICE and local police departments could cooperate.

But Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office says the toll could have been worse.

Hochul laid out a handful of significant changes she’s urging lawmakers to make to the state’s landmark 2019 climate law.

“Today is the end of the beginning,” state Senate Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins said. “And Monday is the beginning of the middle.”

The Senate and Assembly included a bevy of tax hikes in their one-house budget plans, setting up a clash with Gov. Hochul.

The case rippled through state politics, where lawmakers are discussing legislation to limit cooperation with ICE.

The defendants are accused of staging fake immigration court proceedings.

Hochul, a Democrat, said she won’t opt into the program to save taxpayer money.
