While hoards of tourists flock to Times Square on New Year's Eve, some of us who actually live here use the night as an opportunity to dress up, get inordinately wasted, and eat diner food at 4 a.m. We dispatched photographer Sai Mokhtari to capture locals on their way out, and journey back home this New Year's Eve, so if you stayed in (like the rest of us) you can click through for a glimpse at what you "missed." Drink every time you see someone hunched over on a curb!
The photos were taken at various locations and times, from Atlantic Terminal (at 8 p.m.), to Grand Central, to Union Square, to the always photogenic Bedford L stop (as well as the Lorimer stop), and finally near 23rd Street near 8th Avenue. The adventure concludes at the Chelsea Square Restaurant, where the evening's revelries are being soaked up by pancakes and grilled cheese sandwiches.
